About

I have more than 20 years’ experience working within local authority statutory SEND Services, most recently as Head of Service (SEN). Before this I was a teacher for 16 years, working in mainstream and special schools. In my last teaching post, I set up a specialist resourced provision for children with Autism in a mainstream school.

  • Advanced Diploma in SEN
  • Advanced Certificate in Autism (2 modules completed at Masters level)

Experience

managing local authority SEN services

I have direct experience in managing local authority SEN services including: 

  • the EHC needs assessment team
  • EHC annual review teams
  • Post 16 SEN teams
  • SEN advisory services (including the ASD Advisory Service, Early Years, Speech and Language and Learning Support)
  • SEN Transport
  • Special School Placements
  • High Needs Funding

 

I sit on the London and South-East Tribunal User Group and have been an active member of the London and Home Counties Regional Conference (Steering Group/Vice Chair 2017-21).  

In September 2021 I branched into consultancy work. I have worked for parents across London and the South-East to mediate between them and their local authority.

Navigating the SEND system can be overwhelming.

I support parents through the system so that they can approach each stage of the statutory process with confidence.  

I can offer as much or as little support as you need at each stage of the process.

I will continue to keep in touch and offer information, advice and guidance between agreed pieces of work.  

I will aways maintain professional integrity and give you an honest appraisal of the strengths and weaknesses of your case.

I am tenacious and persistent in holding local authorities to account where statutory expectations are not met, but my aim is to adopt a fair approach and to help resolve disputes between parents and local authorities.
